Forms of the City: Tambov
The first part of this project is dedicated to the sky over Tambov. I wanted to show how many faces the sky can have — how its moods can shift and melt into one another like water. Sometimes, we witness several states in a single day, each flowing gently into the next, changing the atmosphere.
The second part of the project explores different sides of the city itself.
It’s my quiet opposition to the idea that “small towns are boring and monotonous.”
I don’t agree — and here, I try to show how varied, surprising, and expressive one city can be, how its own mood and rhythm shift just like the sky above it.
All the photographs were taken by me on different days.
I invite you to imagine your own feelings and stories as you look at them —
you might be surprised how different your emotional response is from mine.
For example, a grey, snowy road might seem bleak — but for me, it was the evening before New Year’s Eve, and I felt nothing but warmth and joyful anticipation.
